The Role of Sangha Administrators on Buddhism Radio Management in Sriprachan District, Suphanburi Province

Abstract

 The main objectives of this research are : 1) to study the role of Sangha Administrators on Buddhism Radio Management in Sriprachan District, Suphanburi Province, 2) to compare the role of Sangha Administrators on Buddhism Radio  Management in Sriprachan District, Suphanburi Province, and 3) to study problem and suggestion to the role of Sangha Administrators on Buddhism Radio Management in Sriprachan District, Suphanburi Province. This study was a quantitative research. The sample of this study consisted of 159 Sangha administrators in Mahanikaya sect in Sriprachan District, Suphanburi Province, being selected by random sampling technique.  The research instruments was opened and closed questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by statistical tools such as  frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation. Hypotheses were tested with t-test for two-valued variables and F-test or One-Way ANOVA for more than 3 valued variables. In case of differentiation being found, it was compared by Least Significant Difference (LSD).

 

 

The Findings of the study are concluded as follows:

1. The overall opinions towards the role of Sangha Administrators on Buddhism Radio Management in Sriprachan District, Suphanburi Province is found at the high level with the average value equal to 3.71. When considered into each aspect, it is noted at the high levels in all aspects with the mean scores ranging from the most to the least as follows:  Building, Program Manager and Disc Jockey (3.68, 3.75 and 3.75), respectively.

2. The results of comparison about the opinion to the role of Sangha Administrators on Buddhism Radio Management in Sriprachan District, Suphanburi Province, classified by personal factors, reveal that age, years of ordination, level of general education, level of Dhamma studies have no significant differences, thus rejecting the set hypotheses. While level of Pali studies has significant difference at 0.05 level of confidence, therefore accepting the formulated hypothesis.

 3. The data of  interview  in this study suggest that: i) the budget is not sufficient of building the suitable radio station, ii) the station is located far from the city causing delay of information,  iii) less public participation in building management, iv) no permanent personnel to take care of it, v)  there is no sponsors in controlling the programme time-table, vi) there is less number of DJ in carrying out the programme, vii) there is no clarification of information from the old DJ, viii) there is no new programme time-table to replace the old one, ix) there are no sufficient numbers of Dhamma DJs, x)  there are less numbers of Dhamma expert DJs, xi) DJs lack of encouragement to present new and excellent Dhamma explanation and get bored to sort the new techniques to run programme, and xii) there should be feedback in running the programme by observing Question and Answer session.
